“SSC Words Behind Me Like a Guiding Voice”

​One of the strangest and most rewarding parts of releasing Supersede Control - A Mind at Speed has been discovering how differently the book resonates with different readers.
​
Recently, I received the following WhatsApp exchange from Udhveer Sookrajh. I asked his permission to share it publicly because, quite honestly, it captures the spirit and intent of SSC more accurately than any formal review possibly could.

Honestly - I grew up a fan of Ayrton Senna even though he had passed while I was a kid. But he made me obsessed with cars and driving. My first car was a beat up old Honda but importantly came with the Senna suspension.

I have done every driving course I could, trained with SAPS and other tactical driving units for the pure love of driving… at the same time cars have evolved. They have changed into PlayStation on wheels. Something has been lost along the way.

Your book is a lifetime of the evolution of driving. In it is a textbook of the fundamentals of driving, the triangle of grip. It’s the catalyst that reignites the muscle memory I have been fortunate enough to learn and more importantly expose me to the fun…

​There are moments during the long process of writing, refining and publishing a book where you genuinely wonder whether the deeper intent behind the work will fully transmit to another person.

Messages like this remind me why Supersede Control was written in the first place.

Not merely to explain driving technique, but to reconnect the reader to the deeper consciousness of driving itself — rhythm, feel, integration, anticipation, awareness and ultimately, joy.
